Chamomile for Children

Hey loves!

I want to share my insights on Chamomile essential oil because it is possibly the most useful go to oil for helping children process difficult energy.

Chamomile is our friend for:

  • Anxiety

  • Confidence

  • Temper tantrums

  • Anger

  • Indecision

  • Fatigue

  • OCD

  • ADD

  • Insomnia

Chamomile balances our power center, where we hold our self esteem and will power. It aids physical and figurative digestion. We can handle what we take in, and process it more calmly when under the influence of Chamomile. It has cooling properties, so it calms states of heat and agitation. It clears doubt and worry from the mind which aids in releasing attachment to outside stimuli and brings focus back to the self. The oil is steam distilled from the flower heads. You may find German or Roman Chamomile available to buy. It has an apple-like or straw-like aroma, that blends well with woody oils and other florals. It is not considered to be a masculine or feminine oil, but rather neutral, and is loved by all!

Roman vs German Chamomile →

Roman chamomile is yellow, used for inflammation issues plus emotional and mental stress. It smells like apple.

German chamomile is blue, used for skin, digestion and inflammation issues plus emotional and mental stress. It smells like straw.

Both are great choices! Play with them and decide which one works for you.

Olfactory senses connect us to energetic pulses. We can connect to the desired state of mind when triggered by the smell we associate with this state. For example, let’s say you use Chamomile when you are already relaxed on a regular basis; if you apply it in a moment of crisis, the Chamomile aroma will redirect your brain and emotions to how it usually feels when taking in Chamomile energy.

How to train the mind and body to respond→

  1. Use when naturally in desired state of being (at bedtime or when relaxing)

  2. Practice calming technique like deep breathing, long sighs or meditation, when using oil in naturally desired state of being

  3. Apply oil and calming technique when in need of desired state (when agitated)

Ways to use→

  • Drops in bath or shower

  • Diffuse in a candle or electric diffuser

  • Inhalation 1-2 drops on a cotton ball

  • Dilute with oil and apply to pulse points

  • ages 0-5→ 1- 2 drops per 10 ml oil

  • ages 5+→ 2- 10 drops per 10 ml oil

Chamomile is perfect for little ones for so many reasons. No matter how you use Chamomile oil, it brings peace and calm. It can be used by anyone as long as they aren’t allergic to the Chamomile flower. The effects begin quickly and last from 1-4 hours. Always dilute essential oils and wash hands after application. If the oil gets on soft tissue like the eyes or is ingested, it can damage the nerves and cells. Essential oils penetrate inches below the skin, so implement proper dilution proportions and application for safe and effective results.
